The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime ~

2003 - Mark Haddon - Swindon (allows foreshadow of London being a scary place in comparison to dull Swindon)

First person perspective: A lot of dramatic irony for audience as Chris doesn't understand things the audience does, allows for audience to gain a new perspective on every day life and appreciate averageness

Title - Childish, overly interested in being precise signifies asperges. Shows reference to Sherlock Holmes' story, again aspergic, foreshadows a murder allows for twist that it was a dog killed not what audience expects. Also sets up classical "murder mystery" stereotypes of genre in audiences head, to be challenged as well as Chris values dogs over humans against and challenging socially accepted standards and perceived stereotypes (postmodern)

Small set of characters (3 0f which are animals) shows the small relative social interest and knowledge Chris has, none of the characters are his own age, nor does he have interest in characters of his own age.
